Annapurna Indian Dance wins 100-day festival commission

Congratulations to the Annapura Indian Dance group, which has won one of the coveted commissions for Yorkshire's forthcoming 100-day arts festival.

The first ever arts festival to precede the Tour de France - the world's biggest annual sporting event - the Yorkshire Festival 2014 will run from 27 March to 6 July. Le Grand Depart of the Tour de France will take place on 5 & 6 July and will come through Huddersfield as part of its route.

Backed by Welcome to Yorkshire, Yorkshire Water and Arts Council England, along with various local authorities across Yorkshire, the Yorkshire Festival 2014 looks set to be a fantastic and exciting series of events.

The Annapurna Indian Dance company will present a small-scale dance show at the Festival, combining Indian dance with the creation of a bicycle painting, shared with the audience at the end of the performance at Eureka! in Halifax.

Huddersfield Literature Festival would like to congratulate Annapurna Indian Dance on winning this commision and we all look forward to welcoming the company to HLF2014 on Wednesday 12 March, 7.00pm at Student Central - the new space at the University of Huddersfield - where the group will be performing.

Tickets are just £3 (conc. £1.50) and can be booked through the LBT box office.
